Hello to the lists (apologies for cross-posting), Might anyone be interested in conducting some light research into cascade voting and open elections? I ask because I am not a scholar of political science (but a software practioner), and I am working on a project that could use some scholarly guidance. (Not to mention, I have received helpful replies here before :) A delegate cascade (to define it) is a voting mechanism in which received votes are carried along with cast votes. One who receives a vote is a candidate; one who casts a vote, a voter; and one who both receives and casts is a delegate. As each vote is carried through successive delegates, it cascades with other votes. For more info, (and my initial attempt at a grounding in theory) see: http://zelea.com/project/votorola/a/design.xht#delegate-cascade Open elections are not yet formally defined. Here is an informal description: http://zelea.com/project/votorola/home.xht The research would be counterfactual because initial (experimental) elections are still a couple of months away. But I hope there is still some advanced interest among scholars or students. The interesting part is (as the links above elaborate) it is not merely a voting mechanism, rather the cascade embodies several processes of democracy at once. I can answer questions on or off list. Thanks for reading, Mike Allan http://zelea.com/contact.xht P.S.
